Female Reproductive System
The female reproductive system is all the parts of your body that help you reproduce, or have babies. And it is quite amazing! Consider these two fabulous facts:
- Your body likely has hundreds of thousands of eggs that could grow into a baby. And you have them from the time you’re born
- Right inside you is a perfect place for those eggs to meet with sperm and grow a whole human being!

Main reproductive organs
Fallopian tubesThe fallopian tubes or oviducts are two very fine tubes leading from the ovaries into the uterus. They are named after their discoverer, the 16th century Italian anatomist, Gabriele Falloppio. There are two fallopian tubes, attached to either side of the uterus, and each terminating at or near one ovary.

ovaryOvaries are a part of the female reproductive system. They contain many small follicles which produce the eggs which will merge with the sperm to make a embryo. Also they produce various hormones controlling amongst many other things in the menstruation cycle. Normally, a female will have two ovaries, each containing a fixed number of eggs.

UterusThe uterus or womb is the major female reproductive system. One end called the cervix, which opens into the vagina, and the wider end, called the body of uterus, is connected on both sides with the Fallopian tubes. It comes in a variety of shapes and sizes in different organisms.
